Sun 27 Apr  Omar Puente & Robert Mitchell
|
£8 (£6)

The extraordinary pairing of Cuban violinist Omar Puente and British
pianist Robert Mitchell is unlikely to resemble anything you’ve seen before.
Training as both classical and latin jazz musician (with the likes of Ruben
Gonzales), Omar has pursued a unique international career, moving to the UK
in 1997. Since then he’s worked with Courtney Pine, Kirsty MacColl, Jools
Holland and many more.
Robert is a virtuoso pianist and composer who’s built a formidable reputation
through work with Gary Crosby, Tomorrow’s Warriors and Courtney Pine. Now a
member of the F-IRE collective, he works with the likes of Norma Winstone and
Steve Coleman.
Expect a mixture of Cuban folk, classical, cinematic soundscapes and jazz,
played with intensity and passion.

TW is a new project which brings together three highly accomplished
musicians.
Eddie Parker (flutes) was a member of Loose Tubes, moving
on to work with Bheki Mseleku and Django Bates, and to lead his own groups.
Lee Goodall (many instruments) is now based in South Wales, though he lived
and worked for a time in New York. A true multi-instrumentalist, he plays
everything from drums to saxophones. His working associations have been many
and varied, and include a long-standing membership of the Van Morrison band.
Thad Kelly’s distinctive bass playing pops up all over the place.
His regular projects include Partisans, and work with guitarist Billy Jenkins.
